New And Improved!!

Get ready all!! The New and Improved CO-D Is Here!
Just got home from our "Mini Vacation" to Waxahachie, to travel back in time to the 17Th century. Scarborough Fair! We had a marvelous time, and cant wait to go back again. I highly recommend going there if you haven't yet. It's a great place to get exciting fun memories for years to come. As you can see I underwent a wardrobe change while there. I bought my first Kilt....... okay, so I already have one, but I made it myself, and it isn't nearly as cool as this one is! I bought the shirt as well, me being Scottish/Irish I think its a great fit!
Hope you enjoy it, cause you will be seeing it alot. New CONCERT OUTFIT!!

Time Travel Impossible??

"Step through the gates of Scarborough Village and feel your cares slip away. Thrill to the thunder of hooves and crash of lance on shield at the joust. Watch in amazement as birds of prey swoop just inches above your head at the command of the Royal Falconer.
Enjoy swordplay, comedy, music and other unique entertainment on 21 stages. Witness artisans create one-of-a-kind works of art. Browse 200 quaint shoppes for unique handmade jewelry, clothing, leather goods and other offerings.
Feast like a King on food and drink from around the world. Grab a turkey leg and stroll among the villagers of Scarborough. Spend the day in the 16Th Century and have the time of your life."
That's the plan for this weekend. We are going to be heading to Red Oak Texas, just north of Waxahachie for the evening, just to get a breather from the "Big City Life" that we have. It's a "Mini Vacation" for the Renfro Clan. We are all fascinated with the history of "where we came from". Of course God is the answer for that question, but to know the way life happened centuries ago fascinates us. My mother and I got to go there when I was 13, so about 10 years ago, for a School field trip. She chaperoned, and it was so much fun. It's going to be nice to get to have more memories added to the ones I have of the 1st time.

Thanks For The Help!

"Planning Yesterday takes command of the audience with a bold, loud, and in your face approach to the game of rock n' roll. Watch these guys closely, I know they have staying power!"-drue mitchell-89.7PowerFM

Those of you that are familiar with Christian radio programing here in north Texas, are probably more familiar with 94.9 KLTY, than with 89.7 PowerFM. Most Christians are into the "Praise Jesus" "Holy Holy" music that is great. Don't get me wrong. But for the Younger, Hipper crowd, thats musical taste is into the rock n' roll music, 89.7 is for you!
The above quote was given regarding my band, Planning Yesterday, by Drue Mitchell who just so happens to be the Program Director of 89.7 PowerFM. He also DJ's the on-air portion of the afternoon on the station. His support means mre than he may know. Plans are to take him out to dinner within the next couple of weeks. He is truly a great guy!
We endured a rough 2 days this past weekend. But we made it through. Friday night we did an accoustic set at Mochulux Coffee in Arlington. An amazing time to hang out and play. It was like practicing, but with an audience. ( Remember we only serve an audience of One, but more than one is great! I won't lie.) The guys there were really cool with us, can't pass up free coffe, LOL! our setup was probably alot more than they are acustom to, but none the less, we rocked the house.
I arrived back in Arlington on Saturday morning at 9AM to get loaded and ready for the 2 shows we had that day. Thats right, 2!! The first of the two required us to drive to Irving(Originally thought to be Grapevine) to First Baptist Church of Irving. It was there 100th Birthday. Happy Birthday!! Amazing. It was billed as a community wide event, with the Tastes of Irving being displayed(and eaten) and the cities fire dept. and police dept. showing off their toys, and giving saftey tips to the community. The had games for the kids, jump houses, a train ride, and last but not least, great music. There were several tallents and musicians that graced the stage that day. From a group of 40-50-60 year old guys playing cause they love it, to the churches Childrens Choir singing with the passion that the older guys had, with only a keyboard and a Boyscout on Electric Guitar, LOL! It was amazing. We arrived there at about 1115, and found out we were to go on last, at around 415/430. So we had alot of time to hang out and get to know people, talk with the guy and gals from PowerFM, and just enjoy the music, the great weather, and eachother. It was our turn to take the stage and we did so with confidence, and after a great prayer time, in which we placed all we do in God's hands. He truly helped us minister in a way that won fans, and the cheers of PowerFM once more.

"1st prize was a 6 hour recording block and was awarded to “Planning Yesterday”. These guys have sort of a southern rock sound and a HUGE amount of energy! All the musicians in that band are extremely talented and really good at what they do as a whole. They couldn’t have rocked their set better!" -Little Herbie-89.7 PowerFM
I can't get enough out of how Cool and Amazing God really is. Without Him we wouldn't even be together doing this thing called life, as Brothers. They are truly a blessing to me. And I don't think I could do life without them. Love Ya Guys!

-I am he is you are he is you are me and we are all together!

It's Alive..... Its ALIIIIIIIIIVE!!!!!!

My compy is up and runing ladies and gentlemen. Life is back to normal(in my case, not alot is normal)

Keep On Truckin'

That Sounds Good

Alrighty. I don't have my computer up and running just yet. I am using my dads new laptop to post. Just wanted to update you on a couple of things.

First off, We had an amazing time on friday night at Mochalux Coffee. If you missed it, you missed a great time of music and fun. It was our first ever accoustic set, and man it sounded SWEET! We didn't have a huge crowd. But the folks that were there loved us. And they had fun. Thats important. It was really cool to see and hear that we can do our songs like that. In a way that stretches us. It was a great time and it was just the beginning.......

Saturday we had 2 shows scheduled. One in Irving, for a battle of the bands, and the other in Garland. We arrived at the church in Irving, for an outdoor community event that involved the battle of the bands, which was being judged by the wonderful Little Herbie of 89.7 POWER FM. There were some awesome people out there, and we had great fun, in the hours we had to spend there. Thats right..... we arrived at about 1045, and didnt play until 415. So, we hung out and jammed, and talked with alot of people. Needless to say, we were the last band to play. We did our 30 minute set, and rocked the crowds faces off! The judging was over. The winners were announced. PLANNING YESTERDAY WINS!!! Our prize??? 6 FREE hours of recording time at a Studio over in Dallas. WOO HOO!!! We got done there about 10 after 5, and had to be in Garland for a 7pm show. We hauled butt!! we made it there, had a great show. Played till we couldnt anymore.

It was kind of a little taste of life on the road. And we enjoyed every minute of it!

Don't Let me Down!

Having Technical Dificulties

Have you ever realized just how much your life depends on something as cold and stagnant as a computer? Or even more so on the Internet? Well my friends, reading my posts here, you would think I haven't been without. But indeed I have. Thats right. My home computer has decided to up and quit on me. Seems that the power supply has decided to give up. Quit. Shut down. Go Kaput! And so I have posted my last two blogs from Church, and at Work(Shhhh,no one knows at work). So, I have resorted to pulling out my ancien Compaq computer, one of the first ones we have owned. It has windows 98 on it, thats how old it is. And the internet works on it, and I am HAPPY!

Life shouldn't depend on technology. I mean, we do everything online. From eating, to sleeping. Yeah, I have breadcrumbs and drool in my keyboard from being online and doing just that. It happens. I just want to use this as a tool to keep things real. Genuine.

Alright. Why don't you make like a tree and GET OUTTA HERE!!

Another Day, Another Dollar

Well went to work once more today. The same routine in place. Im so ready for God to place ministry Full Time into my life. Dead end jobs just don't please me any more. The way things are going, He is really making things happen. Pray that I keep my focus where it neds to be, and that I wont let "Work" drag me down to the great unknown.

In the words of my good friend Kip,
"Peace Out"

Take It All In

I cant get over the fact that God would take the time out of His busy schedule to look down on a stupid guys life, and decide to put a seed in him that would grow and produce like it has. It seems just like yesterday I was wanting to be a drummer, and now, here we are. April of 2008, and I am doing just that. God is so good!

I have had alot of influences in my life, but none have affected me as much as four individuals.

First off, my Pastor, Brandon Nicewonger.(www.brandonnicewonger.com) I have known him since I was 16. He was my youth pastor, and now 7 years later, He is still influencing me to do what God has called me to do. Love Ya Bro!

Secondly, a great musician, friend, and worshiper, Sean Bellah. We go way back to my early days of being a Christian. when I was just a runt running around our church, He took me under his wing, and taught me about sound, and trained my to tune my ear, and be able to hear what was inside of me. I have played with him on many occasions, and hope to do so again one day. You rock my socks off!

Third, someone I have known, Loved, and will always cherish, Nathan Martin. He is the Worship Pastor at my church, and without his continued support and prayers, I wouldn't be writing this blog. He has truly been an encouragement to my life. We are like two peas in a pod.

And then there is a great Worship Leader. You may know him. Darrell Evans. I had an oprotunity to stand by him and lead our church into some amazing worship. I am not bragging to make myself sound like I am the greatest 'cause I got to drum for Darrell Evans. Don't get me wrong, it was an amazing time. He really taught me alot, in my playing, and in my heart for ministry.

Continue to lift me up, and above all, lift eachother up. Like my good buddy Paul said, "All You Need Is Love".

Reaching The World One Beat At A Time

For those of you that aren't aware, I am the drummer for an amazing band called Planning Yesterday. I have been playing with them for a little over a year now. I am also the drummer for an awesome ministry at New Life Fellowship in Keller Tx. This is the place I re-charge before hitting the road with the band.

This blog is intended to be an open window for you guys to have a glimpse into life on the road. I will post as frequently and often as I can, with my thoughts and wonders while traveling with "The Boys".

I will let you guys in on a little secret. Right now we are on the edge, and God is really making some amazing things happen. We have been contacted by BEC Records, and our Manager, Danny(Corey's Brother), is in the process of meeting with them. I will have more info as I get it, for sure. Just keep that in your thoughts and prayers.
